Ultimate C%: A Smarter Mean Reversion Indicator for Beginner Traders
Share on
Introduction
Ever felt like all your trading strategies look the same? Same buy points. Same sell signals. Same results.
You're not alone. That’s why I created Ultimate C% — a custom trading indicator built for people like you. It’s based on a well-known concept, Rate of Change (ROC), but with a twist: it gives you different strategy equity curves than other oscillators like Relative Strength Index with 2 periods (RSI2).
And guess what? It’s super easy to use. You don’t need to be a math genius or a programmer.
Let’s dive into it!
What Is Mean Reversion in Trading?
Mean reversion is the idea that prices eventually come back to “normal.” When something goes too high or too low, it often bounces back.
Simple Example: The Rubber Band
Imagine stretching a rubber band. If you stretch it too far, what happens?
It snaps back!
That’s exactly how mean reversion works in trading. When prices “stretch” too far from their average, they tend to return.
Why Traders Love Mean Reversion
It’s easy to spot
It works well in sideways markets
It gives fast entry and exit signals
It’s got high win rates, which is great for beginners
But here’s the problem…

The Problem With RSI2 (and Most Popular Tools)
RSI2 is a popular indicator for mean reversion. It's easy to use and gives fast signals. But it has one big problem: it's crowded. Everyone uses it.
When everyone follows the same playbook, edges fade. You get similar equity curves. Similar risk. No uniqueness. And when everyone does the same thing…
Markets adjust.
That’s why I built something new.
"Indicators don’t need to be complex to be powerful. Ultimate C% is proof of that." - Ali Casey
Introducing Ultimate C% – By Ali Casey
Ultimate C% is a custom indicator I built to help traders build uncorrelated strategies. It works for mean reversion, but unlike RSI2, it gives you a different equity curve.
This gives you an edge. You can build strategies that don't move like the rest. Instead, you get a clean, simple oscillator.
How It All Connects
Ultimate C% uses another indicator I built: Casey C%.
Casey C% ranks ROC values to build an oscillator. For Ultimate C%, I combine and smooth several ROC calculations to produce clearer, more reliable signals.
No hard math. Just clean signals.
Here's a quick example: Let's say Ultimate C% drops below 30, signaling an oversold condition. You buy at the next day's opening. If, within the next few days, the indicator moves above 65, you exit with a profit. Simple and effective!

Strategy Comparison: Ultimate C% vs RSI2 on the S&P 500
I tested both indicators on the S&P 500 index using a simple mean reversion setup.
Entry:
buy when oscillator below 30
Exit:
Sell when oscillator above 65
If the oscillator does not reach 65 within 5 bars, exit the trade anyway.
Same strategy, same market, Different Result?
The Ultimate C% strategy had completely different metrics and equity curve than RSI2.
Digging Into the Metrics:
Ultimate C%: NPt: $184K, Ret/DD: 9.4, Win: 67%, Profit Factor: 2.2
RSI2: NP: $203K, Ret/DD: 4.7, Win: 73%, Profit Factor: 1.6

Why Equity Curve Shape Matters
If all your strategies have the same curve, you’re just repeating risk. Different equity curves mean more stability.

Diversify Your Trading Without More Assets
By using indicators like Ultimate C%, you can build multiple strategies on the same market — but with different behaviors.
That’s how you reduce risk and boost performance.
